Week commencing 20/6
Last week we had our mini sports day with some fun races. We did the egg and spoon race, Jumping Jack race and running. It was lovely to watch the children that chose to take part and the others cheered them on. We used real bricks in the sand and practised trowelling in between each brick to build a wall. We also explored different textured paint, one was really watery and one child made a "waterfall" with the running colours. We enjoyed the role play bus, pretending to drive to the beach. This has prompted practitioners to create a beach themed area next week! The washing line was also popular where children hung different patterned clothes, talking about the patterns they could see.
Week commencing 13/6
We enjoyed celebrating Father's day in the 2 year room with a walk to the dingle with Dads and Grandads. We fed the ducks and collected some natural treasure. We then took this back to nursery and made lovely cards with them.
Week commencing 6/6
Another excitable week in the 2 year old room. Lovely turn taking in the hospital role play. The children showed care and consideration for each other as they applied bandages and "made you better?!" They enjoyed building towers as tall as different toys. Some great mathematical language of size, bigger and smaller. One child made their tower "Big...bigger...bigger!" than the Dinosaur toy and another as tall as spiderman! Thank you for bringing things into nursery to share from half term. It was a lovely activity at carpet time and the children were confident enough to talk about their adventures, from a visit to a Safari Park, a visit to Apple Tree Town and helping mummy around the home. We loved listening to them all.
